Description
According to tradition, the synagogue was established by Moshe ben Nahman Gerondi, usually known by his Hebrew acronym the RAMBAN or Nahmanides, rejuvenator of the Jewish community in Jerusalem during the Mameluk period in the 13th century. The synagogue was restored and named after him immediately after the Six-Day War and the reunification of the city.
