Site Name
BATEI MAHSE Square

Period

The old Yishuv

Description
Batei Mahse Square is accesible from the Jewish Quarter car park, through the picturesque Simtat Ha-Hazotzrot Street and through the gate bearing the name of the neighborhood. In the large square, opposite the central, arched, building – Rothschild House – stands an impressive column which apparently found its way here from the Temple Mount, and probably served as one of the columns of the royal collonade built by Herod above the expansion on the Temple Mount.
