The Broad Wall

First Temple Period

Description
During the reign of Hezekiah, the city expanded beyond the walls of the original “City of David”, and many residents moved to the new area, which lay to the west of the Temple Mount. As this area was unprotected, Hezekiah enclosed it in a fortified wall, known as the Broad Wall, which was recently revealed during archeological excavations.
